As second wave of Covid is ravaging India and causing so much suffering. Seemandhra Forum has decided to support the effort by our partner Gurudeva Charitable Trust to convert their building in Mangalapalem in Andhra Pradesh into a free 25 bed hospital.
The need of the hour is to reinforce the healthcare infrastructure which is buckling under the large number of severe infections found all throughout India. Every family is being touched by this wave and stories of people who are infected not able to find hospitals and not getting enough oxygen are everywhere. What is heartbreaking is the state of people who live in poverty or on the margins of poverty. They have little hope of having access to healthcare with no money to pay for the skyrocketing cost of hospitalizations and overflowing government hospitals.
In this time our partner Gurudeva Charitable Trust with whom we did Covid food bank project last year during the first wave of lockdowns, has taken up the noble cause of creating a free hospital in collaboration with NRI Hospitals Vizag who will provide staff to operate the 25 bed hospital with ICU and an Operation Theatre. Work is proceeding on war footing to convert the existing building to create patient facilities and purchase of all the equipment including Beds, Stretchers, Wheelchairs, I V Stands, Instrument sets, X-Ray machine, Monitors, Ventilators, Anesthesia Machine, Operation Theatre Lighting set, Operation Theatre Table. Detailed breakdown of costs can be found on our website.
